We should do this more often.

Saturday night we went to a wonderful party. It was a family holiday party at my friend Holly's house. It was so great to get everyone out of the house and just have a great time. The party was with this big group of families and we are all friends and all have 2-3 kids around the same ages. It was so much fun because all the kids just disappear and play and do crafts and activities and the parents get to relax and eat and drink and talk and relax. A whole bunch of the moms all got drunk and talked about all sorts of really hilarious things. We were just laughing so hard all night long. We even decided that we needed a karaoke machine for the next party. (That may have been the tequila talking) We partied all evening long and all of the adults were pleasantly surprised at how well all the kids got along. I mean they are all friends but we were there from like 6:30pm to 12:30am or so and the kids didnt get cranky or grumpy or fight, just played all evening and had fun with very minimal adult intervention. Yes, we were around enough to know they were all alright. I did hang out with Loren for a lot of the party but even she spent quite a while with me out of view (she typically likes to always keep me in sight) playing with the other kids, yay!

I know its seems silly. How just sitting around with adults can be such a big deal. But nights like this really help recharge me from the sometimes long, relentless motherhood days that sometimes leave you feeling isolated and lonely. After I got home I felt great. I think I should do this more often.

that sounds awesome. And even though I don't have kids, I totally understand - when all you really want to do is relax at home, it's hard to get motivated to go to parties & stuff, but then it's always so fun and fullfilling after a good night drinking & laughing with friends.
