New Three Kids

Daddy's home

We made it to Day 9. Yesterday at 6:15 pm we picked up Daddy from the airport. Good to have him home now. We came home and relaxed and got some pizza at home since he was kind of jet lagged. The kids were happy and excited to show him things we had been doing all week.

We are relaxing today and have a baseball game to go to tonight. It's going to have a big fireworks show afterward celebrating Independence Day so should be a good one, considering how great the fireworks are even when it's not a holiday. Tracy has been bugging my parents all season to go with us to a game and they are going to go with us tonight so we'll have all the grandparents with us.

Yes, I am still freaked out, but we are going to go anyway and have a good time. If we decide we dont want to sit in our seats we can always hang out at the playground and walk around the concourse. My mother in law has been checking on the poor injured kid. He's still in the hospital but he is in stable condition, they just want to make sure he doesnt get an infection like meningitis or something while he is healing. I am sure in the end he is going to be fine, just sad for a little kid to have to deal with that kind of pain.

My kids finally got up, so I guess I will go see what they are doing and get our lazy day started.

Update--Mike had to run into work for a little while, some big thing broke or something. (yeah, that's the technical description) He really didnt want to go. At least he's only like 5 miles away, not across the ocean.

New Three Kids

Bouncing rules.

My son is five (and a half he would say). After his bath today he didnt get dressed for some reason.
I didnt think it was any big deal, there's no one here but us.
He's been playing around the house, I cant see him but I can hear him playing.
I hear him bouncing on the hippity hop ball. It looks like this for those who dont know.

You sit on it and hold the handle between your legs and bounce. Quite a good time.

Anyways...
I hear him say "OOOOooow."
He walks in holding his crotch and whines, "MOOOOOOOooommmmmiiieeeee?"
I say "Son, I dont want to know. Just dont hippity hop NAKED, OK?"
He says "OK, mom" and walks away.

I'm glad I can teach him the REAL important life lessons.

Take me out to the ballgame.

Tonight we all piled out to the Express game. It's all good.

Good news, my mother in law got all the latest news on the injured kid. When we first found out the kid was in ICU yesterday we feared it was bad. He was there because with all the broken bones he had and the swelling, it had opened up a space where they were afraid bacteria could get to his brain. The good news is that today all the swelling went way down and the spaces all closed back up and he is doing much better and was actually released from the hospital and got to go home. Also, he had NO eye damage, brain damage, or anything that wont heal. Thank God, he IS going to be just fine. Also Reid Ryan (Nolan's son, one of the Express owners) and some Express players went and visited him at the hospital this morning, signed his ball and talked with him. The kid is a big Express fan. So anyway, we found out right at the start of the game that he was home and doing much better. YAY!

The game was a blast, we had our whole family, Mike's parents, and my parents all there. A lot of the regulars were there and we all had fun just talking and drinking and eating and generally enjoying the game. The kids had fun too. Express hit two homers early on and ended the game for the WIN in the top of the ninth with a double play. Go Express! After the game they had a fabulous fireworks show that everyone really enjoyed. They always play music during the fireworks show and it started with all the classic patriotic band songs that are always played during fireworks for Independence Day.

The last song before the finale, was that sappy Lee Greenwood song, God Bless the USA. I just looked around at my family... husband, kids, parents all sitting together in the dark at a baseball game watching the sparkling colors in the sky, and as he sang the words "If tomorrow all the things were gone, I'd worked for all my life, and I had to start again with just my children and my wife, I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today, 'cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they cant take that away," I just couldn't help but think how lucky and happy we really are. I mean, I know there are a lot of fucked up things in this country and even more fucked up things all over the world, but we really are so lucky. I have a happy, healthy, wonderful family, and we live in a wonderful place. *sap*

After the fireworks they had a special event where any kids that wanted too could go on the field and run the bases. Andrew and Tracy were excited to go do it (along with all 5000 other kids there) so Mike took them and they lined up and took their turns going. Andrew went by himself and Tracy went with Mike. The rest of us watched from the stands (Loren was asleep on my lap). It was so fun to watch all these kids so happy and just running like crazy.

Happy Independence Day everyone!!
