The flight

Thursday we werent ready to leave for our trip since Mike hadnt arrived home from his business trip until around 3am. We wanted to be there by early afternoon friday so we would have had to get up really early to make it there actually leaving friday so we instead just decided to fly overnight. So we spent all day thursday finishing up a few errands and packing and then around 9pm or so headed out to the airport. We spent a while stuffing all our crap into the plane and doing preflight stuff to the plane. It was probably around 10 or 11 that we took off for Maryland.

If you take a bag of pretzels to snack on and dont open them, once you get up to altitude in an unpressurized cabin they might blow up like a balloon. Then you have to pop it to get the pretzels out.

We flew all night, stopping in northern Alabama for fuel. The kids slept most of the night on the plane. Mike was flying and I just had trouble getting comfortable to fall asleep. Eventually we had made it through the night and were flying into the morning sunrise above the clouds. It was beautiful.

The kids did sleep for most of the flight.

I amused myself looking at stuff out the window.

I saw this windfarm on some mountain peaks.

Going through the moutains looked cool because the mountains were all sticking up though the clouds and it made it look like the valleys were filled with snow.

Descending through the clouds into Virginia looked cool.

We stopped for gas in Winchester Virginia and then took a quick flight to the airport in Montgomery Village Maryland. Landed there around 930am eastern.

My parents picked us up and drove us to Becky's (rabidcat's) dad, Tom's farm where we are staying. When we got there Tom took all the kids off to play on the farm so Mike and I could nap for a few hours. Tom is awesome!!

That's a very nice looking Bonanza you have there.

That kind of thing you see out the window is why I fly. You see things very few people ever do.
